Dear members
After downloading Adobe Acrobat 8; Microsoft words stopped opening in the
proper mannar, to open any M/W document it opens with a dialogue box called
File Conversion box asking to select the encoding to make your document
readable, 1- Windows default 2- M:DOS 3- Other encoding.
I tried three of them what I get in the three options is a set of unreadable
codes, but when I right click on the icon and choose OPEN WITH ADOBE ACROBAT
the document opens in the proper manner, how can get it to open in the
normal manner i.e. to open right away by clickin on it and not by right
clicking and choose Adobe aacrobat.

What you have written is a little confusing. But if I am guessing correctly,
open Word and run the Repair option. I could tell you exactly how if I knew
which version of Word you are using.

I agree with Terry that what you have written is confusing, but ..
Word opens Word Documents
Acrobat opens Acrobat Documents
If you can open your file successfully with Acrobat, it is an Acrobat
document - whatever it is called. If the name ends with .doc (or .docx, or
.docm) then Windows will ask Word to open it, but Word will not be able to - as
you have found. If the name ends with .pdf, and Word is still trying to open
it, then Windows is confused and you need to re-register the pdf extension -
this seems unlikely though, if you have just installed Acrobat.

I would and Help and I cannot get this done. At http: / / office.microsoft.com / en-us / word / HP012264861033.aspx#5 there is not anything that helps me because I do not see

Removing or Converting HTML code when Web text is pasted into Word 2007 Word I have just searched this group for prior threads about this topic and I did text which I copy from Web pages and which I then paste into my local Word 2007 files. I value the content which is displayed at one blog. The content is local files. When I have saved Web text to my local files I can use Word 2007's capabilities to reformat the text, to highlight sections in different colors and fonts using the pages' "Edit" menus. I am able to paste that code into my local Word 2007 files as a way of working around the disablement of the usual copy capability I paste to my local files from the blog. I have three questions: 1. Is Word 2007 able to remove all HTML code from text of this type? 2. Is Word 2007 able to "convert" such code to "Rich Text Format"? 3. Can I only process own online Help pages, but I was not successful. I think Microsoft offers some excellent Word 2007 Help content, but the Bing search interface does not seem to me to be
Chinese characters Word Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC I have always been able to use Chinese characters in the English version of Word 2004 (Mac) and Word 2003, 2007 (Windows). Now with Word 2008, no-go. I can type fresh characters fine, but if If I paste in an aside, there is no "Microsoft Language Register" for any of these other versions of Word. Both TextEdit and iWork > Pages can open a Word document that has Chinese characters, or paste Chinese characters into a new document and it looks fine. What's the big problem with Word 2008 and how can it be converted to use more than one character set? Don
