Word - word 2003 open only in safe mode

hello,

i often open Word doc's rec'd in email (via outlook) in my office 2003
setup.
lately Word has repeatedly encountered "errors" on opening (from email link,
or normally), but then asks to open in safe mode, which is ok.
I tried repairing Word from the install disk, but still no avail.

any offer of help on this?
