Word - Conversion to Word 2007/Compatability Issue

When we convert our docs from 2003 they are "compressing" the material and
altering the amount of text on a page. This is difficult as we update large
documents at the page level. If we check the "maintain compatability with
Word 2003-2007" box we do not have this compression. We are concerned if we
check this box it may affect future conversions to newer Word versions. If
this going to be a problem? Any comments would be appreciated

Word 2007 (and the forthcoming 2010) will handle Word 97-2003 format
documents and templates. There is no great need to convert existing
documents or templates.

Word 2007's native file format, uses file compression (essentially the
document format is produced as a zip file) and it handles some elements,
differently which could account for minor text flow differences. See also

multilevel lists Word I am writing an engineering report using multilevel lists. Every 4th or 5th page, Word places a large blank space on the page after I press Enter. The new list existing page. Sometimes only 3 or 4 lines of text are on the page when Word inserts the blank space and starts a new page. I displayed formatting marks and there next page and press Enter, 3 or 4 sections later (3.2.5 for example), Word fills the blank section on the previous page with text and the document looks normal up numbering and if I have to insert a sub-section (3.2.5.1), Word adds another 1 / 2 page blank space. To make the 44 page document look somewhat unsuccessfully to "select" the blank section, it is not a hidden table. Can anyone help?
