Word - Word 2007 TOC for multiple docs...problem

I am using Word 2007... I want to create a document composed of multiple
Word 2007 documents, so that I have one table of contents (toc) and can print
it as one large document, but can also restrict access to individual files so
that only certain contributors can edit each document.
As a test, I created a single toc for the multiple documents according to
the instructions found on
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=148, ???Creating a
Table of Contents Spanning Multiple Documents??? and that part works fine
(i.e., the toc updates properly if I update the individual documents and then
reopen and update the toc).
At this point, if I tried to print the document, all I got was the toc, so I
inserted each of the documents into the toc document using Insert > Object >
Create from File > Link to file. That seemed to work OK (and print
reasonably well) until a document exceeded a page in length. At that point,
the document is truncated to one page during printing.
Is there a better way to do this?

There is a big difference between inserting a linked *document file* and
inserting a linked *object* that happens to be a document file. No object
can exceed one page in length, but a linked file can.
On the Insert tab, click the down arrow next to the Object button and choose
Text From File. Select the file in the dialog, then click the down arrow
next to the Insert button and choose Insert As Link. If you toggle field
codes with Alt+F9, you will see that the result is actually an IncludeText
field, instead of the Link field that you get for an object. This time you
should see the whole document.

Multi-coloured text in TOC possible? Word Hi, I am new to the forum - hope you can help me out! I have make the document visually easier to read. I have applied the \ X switch in the TOC field to recognise the line breaks in the TOC, so the TOC is displayed with the Chinese heading text underneath the English heading text as per the main body of the document. However, the TOC only displays the Chinese text in black, despite it being formatted blue in the headings. Is there any way to display this in the TOC so the English text in the heading is black and the Chinese text is blue kipster Word Document Management Discussions Windows XP (1) Microsoft Word (1) Word 2003 (1) Windows 7 (1

Chinese characters Word Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC I have always been able to use Chinese characters in the English version of Word 2004 (Mac) and Word 2003, 2007 (Windows). Now with Word 2008, no-go. I can type fresh characters fine, but if If I paste in characters, it shows those ugly repeating rectangles only. The suggestion of using the "Microsoft Language Register" to set it to Japanese also does not help. Just an aside, there is no "Microsoft Language Register" for any of these other versions of Word. Both TextEdit and iWork > Pages can open a Word document that has Chinese characters, or
multilevel lists Word I am writing an engineering report using multilevel lists. Every 4th or 5th page, Word places a large blank space on the page after I press Enter. The new list existing page. Sometimes only 3 or 4 lines of text are on the page when Word inserts the blank space and starts a new page. I displayed formatting marks and there next page and press Enter, 3 or 4 sections later (3.2.5 for example), Word fills the blank section on the previous page with text and the document looks normal up numbering and if I have to insert a sub-section (3.2.5.1), Word adds another 1 / 2 page blank space. To make the 44 page document look somewhat unsuccessfully to "select" the blank section, it is not a hidden table. Can anyone help?
