Word - Word 2000 Styles vs Later Version's Styles

Asked By croy on 05-Jul-12 12:37 AM
In Word 2000, If I start a new style, and then decide to
tweak a paragraph that uses that style, I can update the
style just by re-assigning it to that paragraph and clicking

At work, we have Word 2002, and the Styles handling seems
much more cumbersome. Am I missing something?

Is there a [reasonable] way to make 2002 behave like 2000?

Word 2002 should work the same as Word 2000 in this respect, if I
remember correctly. In Word 2002, did you remember to select the "Prompt
to update style" option in Tools | Options | Edit?

While that Options setting is essential to making Word work the way it did
in previous versions when reapplying the style, it is possible that Word
2002's Styles and Formatting task pane also has the same feature at Word
2003's: Update to Match Selection.

That would be a possible alternative, of course.
